Tubeless Tyres vs. Tube-type Tyres

Tubeless Tyres vs. Tube-type Tyres

Yes, there is a difference. What? Well that’s what this article is all about. But before we move ahead, I would like you all to ask the same question to yourselves - Did you ever wonder what the difference is between these two types of tyres? (Apart from the obvious difference of course) I mean today’s technology has risen to such heights that on a set of tubeless tyres, even if one is punctured, you can travel some distance to the nearest workshop without damaging the wheels or the tyre itself. Then why do people still use tube-type tyres?

This question gets even more prominent when we look at the shortfalls of tube-type tyres when compared to their tubeless counterparts:

- Tube-type tyres have almost instant air loss in case of a puncture whereas tubeless tyre loses air slowly and runs for longer distance even with a puncture
- Repair of tubeless tyre puncture is pretty simple and can be done on ones own with the help of a puncture kit while in case of a puncture of tubed tyre, it will require professional help
- Tubeless tyres weigh less when compared to a tube-type tyre of the same size and shape. A car with less weight to carry has a better fuel economy as well.
- Tubeless tyres give you better grip on the road, especially on high speeds.
- Tubeless tyres generates less heat on high speeds while the tubed type tyres generates friction between tube and tyre on high speeds and ultimately overheats leading to tyre / tube bur.

Because of these advantages, tubeless tyres is the obvious choice for personal vehicles. The durability and the lifespan of tubeless tyres is phenomenal.

So, if you are still using the outdated tube-type tyres, you know what to go for when it’s time to say goodbye to them and go in for a fresh set of tyres.
