How Potholes can damage your car?
Oh! how we loathe them! Especially when all you can see on a stretch of road is endless potholes with or without them graduating into a pond life. And they are heavily armed to take away your comfort and to empty your pockets. How? Well, you already understand the comfort part. At high speeds, the sudden dip in the road can damage your spine and your neck muscles. On the other hand, the same can vicious assault your car. Although it takes a pretty hit to damage the suspension on your car, however, potholes can damage the tyre and the wheel at normal speeds as well.
After such an incident, you may feel profound vibrations from that particular wheel which went through the pothole. On a closer inspection, you can see the damage on the wheel - most probably a bent. The very first place to check for the damage is the inner lip of the wheel. With this kind of damage, you are bound to spend some money repairing that wheel. Although unlikely, crashing your tyre into a pothole can sometimes damage the steel belts inside, causing them to be out of round.
So, to ensure that you don’t end up in a bed with an excruciating pain or your car doesn’t end up in a garage for costly repairs, it is advised that must try and avoid driving through potholes, and if you can’t, and we don’t blame your driving skills here, drive very slowing over them as roads here in India can be made entirely of potholes.
