Suzuki Swift Face-lift launched @ Rs. 4.42 lacs

Swift has been the king of the hatchback market ever since it was launched in India back in 2004. It has been 10 years and the recipe has hardly changed. However, as is the case with all aging stuff, Suzuki decided to give the Swift a makeover before it enters the "teen" years. Having said that, the tweaks are so minute that you really to strain your eyes for about a week before you can tell them apart.

Let's start with the exteriors...
- New front bumper with some silver mascara linings for the fog lamps, along with a larger air dam.
- New Honeycomb front grille.
- Newly designed alloy wheels.
- 3 new colours to choose from - Violet, Red and Grey.

Inside the cabin...
- LXi, LDi variants now come with rear adjustable headrests and a 60:40 split for the rear seat.
- VXi & VDi trims get an audio player, electrically adjustable and retractable ORVMs. ABS is only present with the VDi variant. Apparently people buying the VXi variant don't fancy better braking power.
- ZXi & ZDi trims get new toys to play with - remote locking with push button start, Bluetooth and rear parking sensors.

Under the hood...
- The petrol engine now produces less, yes you read it right, less power than the one in the old Swift. Now you get only 83 Japanese ponies to hurl yourself through the world, instead of 86. The idea is to improve the fuel economy and as per ARAI, the same has improved from 18.6 kmpl to 20.4 kmpl.
- No such bad news of reduced power output to the hugely exciting diesel motor. Thanks to the combination of retuned ECU and reduced friction, the fuel economy, as per ARAI, has improved from 22.9 kmpl to a much more respectable 25.2 kmpl.
